84 Vaishnav Varta 49 - Ramananda Pandit

Now, about Shri Acharyaji Mahaprabhu’s sevak, Ramananda Pandit, a Saraswat Brahmin of Thaneshwar—the feeling of his account is told. Bhav Prakash (Revealing the Sentiment): He is a night-guard (tamchar) in the Nikunj. So once, after six hours of the night had passed, this night-guard cried out. Then Shri Thakurji understood; it was morning, so He arose. Then Lalita and the other sakhis said, “It is still very much night.” Then Shri Swaminiji, becoming angry, said, “What work does such a bird have here? He has caused the mind’s distress at a time not proper. Therefore let him have birth in the world.”  Then that night-guard obtained many births in the world. Now, the sevak of Shri Acharyaji Mahaprabhu, Ramdas Chauhan, Rajput, resident of Bundelkhand, his story’s inner meaning is spoken. Bhav Prakash (Revealing the Sentiment): In the leela he is a friend of Lalitaji. So her name is ‘Madhuyeni’. So in her mind there was this wish, that just like Lalitaji I too should offer beedi to both the forms. Then Shri Thakurji said, your desire will be fulfilled sometime. Hearing this, Lalitaji cursed Madhuyeni, saying – If you secretly offer beedi, then what will I do? You have shown such pride, go live on earth! So in the world she took many births. Now in Bundelkhand she was born in the house of a Rajput. There she became twelve years old. Now, Shri Acharyaji Mahaprabhu’s sevak, Bula Mishra, lived in the West. He was a Saraswat Brahmin. Here is the narration of his story. Bhav Prakash (Revealing the Sentiment): In the divine play, he is the companion of Shri Swaminiji’s friend, Visakhaji. In the lila his name is “Sumandira.” He appeared in the house of a Saraswat Brahmin in Lahore, in the western direction. When he was ten years old, his father told him, “If you study the scriptures, it will be good. Otherwise, you will remain ignorant like me.” Then Bula Mishra said, “Find me a proper pandit and tell me. Then I will study.” So, in Lahore, he was seated with a pandit to study. That pandit said, “Offer me ten or five rupees of worship, then I will teach you.” So Bula Mishra returned home and sat there. His father asked, “Why did you come back home again? Now, about Shri Acharyaji Mahaprabhu’s female sevak, Krishnadasi, who served as the attendant of Shri Rukminiji. Their story is presented here. Bhav Prakash (Revealing the Sentiment): This Krishnadasi is the intimate sakhi of Shri Swaminiji. “Brajmangala” is her name in Leela. There was a village two kos from Patna. There she was born in the house of a Gaud Brahmin. When she was five years old, one day she went with her mother for a bath in the Ganga. There, a boat was coming after crossing over. The boat was loaded with wood, and there were boatmen. It was the rainy season. The boat split, and the boatmen swam across and reached the shore. All the wood was carried away by the current. The girl stood on the bank. A crore (a large heap) of wood broke and fell into the Ganga. The girl and the girl’s mother both fell. The mother’s body slipped away. Now, Shri Acharyaji Mahaprabhu’s sevaks, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, lived in Singhanand. The mother-in-law’s name was Gorja, and the daughter-in-law’s name was Samarai, both Kshatriyanis. Their story is spoken of here. Bhav Prakash (Revealing the Sentiment): These two, in the divine play (Leela), are the sakhis (companions) of Shri Swaminiji’s sakhi Chandrabhaga. In Leela, the mother-in-law Gorja is the sakhi named “Nanda.” The daughter-in-law Samarai is the sakhi named “Vrinda.” They lived in Singhanand. How Shri Acharyaji made them his sevaks is already mentioned above in the story of Vasudev Chhakda. Prasang 1 – The Offering to Shri Thakurji They used to serve Shri Thakurji.
