When Ramdasji was just twelve years old, his father took him on a very special trip. They traveled to Gujarat to visit the beautiful temple of Shri Dwarkanathji. It was a grand and holy place where many people came to pray to Shri Krishna.
At the temple, something amazing happened. Shri Mahaprabhuji was also there that day. As soon as Ramdasji saw him, his heart filled with love and respect. He quietly whispered to his father, “We would be so lucky if we could become his followers.”
But his father didn’t agree. He said, “He is a Brahmin, and so are we. Why should we follow another Brahmin?”
Ramdasji didn’t argue. He stayed quiet, but deep inside, he wished with all his heart to be close to Shri Mahaprabhuji.
When his father was not paying attention, Ramdasji gently slipped away and ran to Shri Mahaprabhuji. He bowed low with great respect and said softly, “I really want to be your follower. But my father is full of pride. If you show him a miracle, maybe he will also believe.”
Shri Mahaprabhuji smiled kindly and said, “You are a special soul. Your father is not able to see clearly now, but through you, he will change. You will be the one to show him a miracle. From now on, whatever you say will come true.”
Ramdasji felt peace in his heart and went back home. One day, while his father was cooking, he accidentally burned his hands. Ramdasji asked gently, “If I heal your hands right now, will you promise to become a follower of Shri Mahaprabhuji?”
His father, in pain, agreed. So Ramdasji took some water and placed it on the burns. Just like magic, the pain disappeared and the burns healed.
But instead of being thankful, his father proudly said, “This happened because of my own good luck!”
Hearing that, Ramdasji became upset. “Then you will become blind,” he said.
And just like that, his father lost his sight.
Now his father understood something very big. He realized that Ramdasji’s words were full of truth. He went straight to Shri Mahaprabhuji and humbly asked to become his follower. Shri Mahaprabhuji welcomed him kindly and gave him initiation. Then, with just a gentle touch to his eyes, Shri Mahaprabhuji brought back his sight.
From that day on, Ramdasji did seva, or loving service, to the Lord with all his heart. His father, now full of love and devotion, helped him every day.
Later, Ramdasji met a famous devotee named Mira Bai. She loved Shri Krishna very much and sang many beautiful poems about him. One day, while at her home, Ramdasji was singing songs about Shri Mahaprabhuji.
Mira Bai asked, “Why don’t you sing something about the Lord instead?”
This made Ramdasji very sad and upset. He replied, “The songs I sing are not about any ordinary man. Shri Mahaprabhuji and Shri Krishna are one and the same.”
Ramdasji felt hurt and left her home, never to return. From that moment, he understood that he must be careful. The special path of Shri Mahaprabhuji was not something to share with those who might not understand.
Ramdasji’s love for Shri Mahaprabhuji stayed strong like a mountain. He always remembered that true faith and deep respect for the guru can light the path to Shri Krishna’s love.
