Jivandas was born in a quiet little village called Sinhananda. As a young boy, he moved with his father to the big city of Delhi. At first, everything felt new and exciting. But soon, Jivandas started spending time with people who made bad choices. His father tried hard to help him, but nothing worked. So he decided to send Jivandas back to their village, hoping the change would help.
On the way home, Jivandas met some more bad people and went with them to Agra. There, he began working for a cloth merchant as a middleman. But Jivandas still spent half of his money on wrong things, and his heart became heavy with sadness.
One day, a thief tricked him and ran away with cloth worth a hundred rupees. The merchant got very angry and had Jivandas put in jail. Jivandas was scared and didn’t eat or drink anything. He just sat there, feeling lost and alone.
Then, he remembered something a Vaishnav had once said: “The holy river Yamuna takes away all pain. Just by touching her water, one can feel peace.” That gave him hope. When the merchant came to visit, Jivandas begged, “Please let me go to the Yamuna river. I will not live if I don’t. I will also send money to pay you back.”
The merchant allowed it and sent four guards with him. As Jivandas bathed in the river, Shri Mahaprabhuji, who was sitting nearby with his devotees, noticed him. Shri Mahaprabhuji said, “Bring that man who is guarded by four people.”
The guards agreed to let him go with the devotees. Shri Mahaprabhuji looked kindly at Jivandas and asked, “Are you ready to give up your bad habits now?”
Shri Mahaprabhuji then gave one hundred rupees to his followers and told them to pay the merchant. Jivandas was free. He bowed with tears in his eyes and said, “You have freed me from jail, now please free me from this life full of pain.”
Worried that Jivandas might fall into bad company again, Shri Mahaprabhuji kept him close. Jivandas began eating prasada with the other Vaishnavs. Slowly, his heart softened, and his mind became peaceful. He felt as if a light had filled him from within.
Jivandas traveled with Shri Mahaprabhuji to many places. When they reached Thaneshvar, which was close to his home village, Shri Mahaprabhuji sent a Vaishnav to tell Jivandas’s parents that their son had returned. His parents were overjoyed and rushed to see him. When they met, everyone cried tears of happiness.
Jivandas told his parents everything. Touched by his change and Shri Mahaprabhuji’s grace, his whole family became disciples of Shri Mahaprabhuji. Jivandas also returned the one hundred rupees to Shri Mahaprabhuji. He felt that a true disciple should never keep a debt, especially to one’s guru.
Before moving on, Shri Mahaprabhuji blessed Jivandas and said, “Your wishes for a spiritual life will come true. Keep your heart always in the loving service of the Lord.”
One day, Jivandas and a group of Vaishnavs from Sinhananda went on a pilgrimage to Adel to see Shri Mahaprabhuji again. As they were about to cook food to offer to the Lord, the sky became dark, and heavy rain started falling.
The Vaishnavs were worried. “How will we cook the offering now?” they said sadly.
But Jivandas stood calmly and said, “In the name of Shri Mahaprabhuji, I ask the clouds to stop raining!”
At first, the others didn’t believe him. But then, something amazing happened. The rain stopped! The clouds floated away, and they were able to cook and offer the food with love.
Later, when they reached Adel, the Vaishnavs told Shri Mahaprabhuji what had happened. Shri Mahaprabhuji asked, “What would you have done if it had rained anyway?”
Jivandas gently replied, “Even the great rain god Indra must listen when Shri Mahaprabhuji’s name is spoken. Nothing is more powerful than His holy name.”
Jivandas never wanted fame or praise. Even though he had great faith and strength, he only wished to show others the greatness of Shri Mahaprabhuji. His true power came from his deep love, his pure heart, and his simple, humble faith. A heart full of faith and love is stronger than any storm.
