84 Vaishnav Story 59 Narayandas Lohana

A long time ago, there lived a little boy named Narayandas. When he was just five years old, he became very sick with a disease called leprosy. His father, who was a very rich man, felt so sad seeing his son in pain. He promised a big reward to any doctor who could help Narayandas. But no matter how many doctors came, no one could cure him. Five years passed, and little Narayandas still suffered.

One day, something special happened. Shri Mahaprabhuji came to their town. Narayandas’s father went to see Him and placed a thousand shiny rupees in front of Him. He begged, “Please cure my son!”

But Shri Mahaprabhuji gently said, “Do you think I am a doctor? I don’t want your money.”

Still, the father kept asking with all his heart. Finally, Shri Mahaprabhuji walked over to Narayandas and softly touched the boy’s head with His holy feet. In that moment, the sickness disappeared. Narayandas was healed!

Later, when Narayandas asked his father who had helped him, he was told the whole story. Filled with love and thankfulness, Narayandas ran to meet Shri Mahaprabhuji. The kind guru smiled and gave him a special blessing. He marked Narayandas with the imprint of His lotus feet and gave him a promise: “Your love for Shri Krishna will grow strong.”

From that day, Narayandas wanted to live a life full of devotion. He moved out of his parents' home and made a quiet place to pray to Shri Mahaprabhuji. His father did not like this. He was upset that his son was living so simply and not enjoying the comforts of wealth. So Narayandas returned all the fancy clothes, pots, and treasures his father had given him. He wanted nothing but to serve his guru.

Soon, the local king heard about Narayandas and his quiet life. The king was curious and called Narayandas to speak with him. After their talk, the king saw how wise and honest Narayandas was. He made him his chief minister. Narayandas now had riches again, but he used all his wealth to serve Shri Mahaprabhuji and help other Vaishnavas.

But one day, the king became angry with Narayandas for a reason no one knows. He fined him a huge amount—five hundred thousand rupees—and put him in jail. On top of that, the king said Narayandas had to give him five thousand rupees every single day. If he failed, he would be whipped.

Even in jail, Narayandas’s heart stayed full of devotion. One day, two Vaishnava Brahmins came to see him. They were his god-brothers, and they needed help. Their daughter was getting married, and they had no money. Narayandas was so happy to see them that he gave them the five thousand rupees he owed the king that day. He knew he might get whipped, but helping the Vaishnavas was more important to him. He sent them off with kind words and asked them to give his love to Shri Mahaprabhuji.

Later that day, the king came and shouted, “Where is today’s money?”

Narayandas calmly answered, “Two god-brothers came today. They needed help for a wedding, so I gave the money to them. I know I may be punished, but I could not turn them away.”

The king was surprised. He thought for a moment and said, “Is there anyone as kind as Narayandas in this whole world?” He changed his mind, praised Narayandas, let him go free, and even gave him a fine horse to ride.

When Narayandas met the Brahmins again, he smiled and said, “Just seeing your faces helped free me!” Then he gave them another gift—a thousand gold coins—to offer to Shri Mahaprabhuji on his behalf.

Later, the Brahmins gave the coins to Shri Mahaprabhuji and told Him the whole story. Shri Mahaprabhuji listened quietly and said with love, “Everyone should love Vaishnavas like Narayandas does.”

Poem: Narayandas’s Loving Heart

Little boy, so sick and small,
No doctor helped, no cure at all.
Shri Mahaprabhuji came one day,
And with His feet, took pain away.

Narayandas ran with joy so bright,
To meet the guru, full of light.
He gave up riches, gold, and fame,
To serve with love in Shri Krishna’s name.

In jail he sat, still kind and true,
Helped Vaishnavas, as good hearts do.
The king saw love so big, so wide,
And freed him with a horse to ride.

So always give and always care,
For Shri Mahaprabhuji is always there.
Love the Vaishnavas with all your might,
And you will walk in golden light.
