84 Vaishnav Story 12 Amma Kshtarani

Amma was a kind and simple woman who lived in a quiet town. She had two young sons and loved them more than anything in the world. Sadly, after her husband and close family members passed away, Amma had to raise her children all by herself. Though it was hard, she always prayed and stayed strong for her boys.

One night, something very special happened. As Amma slept, she saw a beautiful dream. Shri Krishna came to her and spoke in a gentle voice. He said, “Tomorrow, Shri Mahaprabhuji will come to your town. You must go to him and become his disciple. And from now on, worship Me like I am your own son.”

Amma woke up with her heart full of joy. She felt like something magical was going to happen. She didn’t sleep for the rest of the night. Instead, she quietly waited for the morning to come, thinking about her dream and the Lord’s words.

As the sun began to rise, Amma walked out of her home and looked toward the road. Just like in her dream, she saw Shri Mahaprabhuji arriving, shining brightly like a thousand suns. He was surrounded by a few disciples, and his presence filled the air with peace and love.

Amma ran to him and fell at his feet with tears in her eyes. She told Shri Mahaprabhuji all about her dream and begged him to accept her as his disciple. Shri Mahaprabhuji gently smiled and blessed her. He gave her a small form of Shri Krishna to worship and taught her how to serve with love and care. He also told her to give her sons only the food that had first been offered to Shri Krishna, called ‘prasada.’

From that day on, Amma worshipped Shri Krishna with the heart of a loving mother. She cared for Him like her own child, singing to Him, feeding Him, and even gently putting Him to sleep. Very soon, she was blessed with a beautiful sight—she could actually see her two sons playing joyfully with Shri Krishna. It was not just a feeling. It was real, and it made her heart overflow with happiness.

But then, something very sad happened. Her older son passed away. Amma felt deep pain, but her sorrow was not just for her son. She was also sad because the Lord had lost one of His playmates.

Shri Krishna, full of love, told Shri Gusainji about Amma’s sadness. Shri Gusainji went to see her and spoke with kindness. He said, “Please don’t cry. It is troubling your Lord. Your sons are Shri Krishna’s eternal friends. He called them back to His own home before they could be pulled into the troubles of the world.”

Amma felt calm after hearing these words. She understood that everything happened by the Lord’s wish. From then on, she served Shri Krishna with even more love. She always made sure her hands were scented and clean before touching His little form, treating Him like a soft, delicate baby.

One day, Shri Gusainji came to visit her home. After Amma welcomed him, he asked, “What is Shri Krishna doing right now?” Amma smiled shyly and led him to the room where she kept the Lord’s small form.

To Shri Gusainji’s great surprise, Shri Krishna was sitting there drinking milk with both of His tiny hands. Amma smiled and said sweetly, “What do you expect? He is just a little child.”

Shri Gusainji laughed softly and said, “Please send me some of this milk to my camp.” Amma happily agreed.

From then on, Amma continued to live in joy and devotion, caring for Shri Krishna as her dearest child.

Poem:
The Dream of Amma

Amma had a lovely dream,
Of Shri Krishna’s gentle gleam.
“Go to Shri Mahaprabhuji,” He said,
“Follow His path, just as I led.”

She waited through the night so still,
With heart full of love and a hopeful will.
At sunrise, there her guru stood,
Shining bright and pure and good.

He gave her Krishna’s form to keep,
To love, to feed, to rock to sleep.
She saw her sons in games so sweet,
With Shri Krishna at their feet.

When sorrow came and one son left,
She cried for the Lord who felt bereft.
But Gusainji said with love so deep,
“Your child now rests in Krishna’s keep.”

With joy again her heart did glow,
She served her Lord so soft and slow.
She fed Him milk and watched Him play,
Like any child throughout the day.

So Amma’s love, so full, so pure,
Made Shri Krishna’s smile endure.
Love the Lord with all your heart,
And He will never be apart.
