The Supreme Lord and His Helpers

At the very top is Lord Vishnu, who cares for all worlds and all living creatures. He is the source of light, love, and life itself. To help manage the universe, Lord Vishnu has chosen many helpers, each with their own special duties.

Lord Brahma: The Creator

Lord Brahma sits on a beautiful lotus that grows from Lord Vishnu’s navel. Brahma is in charge of creating all the worlds, the gods, humans, animals, plants, and even time itself. He makes sure that everything has its beginning.

Lord Shiva: The Transformer

The Devas: Protectors of the Universe

Below the three great Lords are the devas, or demigods, who look after different parts of creation. Each deva has a unique responsibility, just like different ministers in a king’s court:

Vayu is the god of wind, who keeps the air moving and fresh.
Surya is the sun god, bringing light and warmth to all.
Chandra is the moon god, bringing coolness and calm, and guiding the night.

Varuna is the lord of water, caring for oceans, lakes, and rivers.
Yama is the god of justice, gently guiding souls at the end of their lives.

There are many other devas too—each with a special part to play, like keeping time, protecting nature, or caring for knowledge and music.

The Sages and Guardians

Great sages like Narada, Vashishtha, and others, share wisdom and keep peace in the universe. Four great guardians, known as the Lokapalas, protect the four directions—North, South, East, and West—keeping the world safe and balanced.

Humans, Animals, and All Living Beings

Humans are given the special gift of wisdom and choice, so they can live with kindness, follow dharma (righteous living), and worship the Lord. Animals, birds, trees, and all creatures play their own important roles, keeping the world full of color, music, and beauty.

The Cosmic Balance

All these beings, big and small, work together in harmony, just like the parts of a well-run city. At the heart of everything is the Lord’s loving care. When everyone does their duty with devotion and kindness, the world is filled with peace and happiness.

Sage Suka explains to King Parikshit that this divine organization teaches us to respect all forms of life, honor those who guide and protect us, and always remember that we are part of a much bigger family.
