Long ago, there lived two kind brothers named Dinkardas and Mukundadas. After their dear father passed away, they decided to travel to the holy city of Benares to earn some money. They worked hard and soon had enough to return home. But something very sad happened on their journey back.
While walking one day, a snake bit Mukundadas. Dinkardas tried everything he could to help his brother, but nothing worked. Mukundadas grew weaker, and Dinkardas sat beside him, crying out in sorrow.
Just then, a gentle and wise Vaishnav named Krishnadas Meghan came by. He heard Dinkardas crying and asked what was wrong. Dinkardas shared the story of the snake bite. Krishnadas Meghan, who had great faith in Shri Mahaprabhuji, mixed a few drops of sacred charanamrita with water and gave it to Mukundadas.
Something wonderful happened. As soon as Mukundadas drank the charanamrita, his pain vanished and he felt well again. He folded his hands and asked Krishnadas Meghan, "Who gave you this power to heal?"
Krishnadas Meghan smiled and replied, "Shri Mahaprabhuji lives in your heart. It was through his grace that you were healed."
Hearing this, Mukundadas felt deep love for Shri Mahaprabhuji. He turned to his brother and said, "Let us both become disciples of Shri Mahaprabhuji."
Dinkardas was curious. "Who is Shri Mahaprabhuji?" he asked.
Mukundadas answered softly, "He is Shri Krishna himself. His charanamrita gave me new life. When you see him, you too will understand."
The two brothers set out to find Shri Mahaprabhuji. When they arrived at the place where he was staying, they bowed humbly at his feet and asked to become his disciples.
Shri Mahaprabhuji asked them gently, "Will you be able to follow the Path of Grace?"
Mukundadas replied with great faith, "With your grace, even the simplest person can become a true devotee. But even the most learned person cannot do anything without your blessing."
Shri Mahaprabhuji lovingly accepted them and gave them the Brahma Sambandha mantra written on a piece of paper. He told them to offer their food to this sacred mantra before eating. The brothers did exactly that. They even added a few drops of charanamrita to their food before eating.
Amazingly, just by eating this prasada, they started to understand the holy Vedas and many other deep scriptures without ever studying them. Their hearts were filled with love and knowledge.
Three months later, Dinkardas, in a deep feeling of love and longing for Shri Krishna, left his body and went to the divine abode. Mukundadas stayed and began writing many poems full of devotion to Shri Mahaprabhuji, Shri Gusainji, and Shri Krishna. In his poems, he beautifully showed that they were all one and the same divine form. He also wrote a special book called "Mukunda Sagar," where he lovingly shared the stories from the tenth canto of the Shrimad Bhagavatam.
One day, a Brahmin scholar came to Mukundadas and said, "Do you want to hear my explanation of the Bhagavatam?" But Mukundadas, whose heart was always filled with Shri Mahaprabhuji’s words, said kindly, "I don’t have time today."
A few days later, the same Brahmin saw Mukundadas playing a game called chopada and asked again. "You have time to play games, but not to listen to my teachings?" he said.
Mukundadas smiled and replied, "Would you like to hear my thoughts on the Bhagavatam?"
The Brahmin was curious. "Is your explanation really that different?"
Mukundadas said, "One day, I’ll tell you when the time is right."
Later, during a solar eclipse, Mukundadas went to the river to bathe. The Brahmin met him there and asked again. This time, Mukundadas began to explain just one line from the Bhagavatam. He spoke with such love and depth that he talked about it for a whole day and night.
By morning, the Brahmin was amazed. "Will you ever finish explaining that one line?" he asked.
Mukundadas laughed gently and said, "It might take another six months."
The Brahmin quietly walked away, full of wonder. Other scholars who came to question Mukundadas did not receive kind answers. Mukundadas did not want to share the deep secrets of Shri Mahaprabhuji’s path with people who had no faith.
After some time, Mukundadas, deeply absorbed in the inner seva of Shri Krishna, left his body too. When some devotees told Shri Mahaprabhuji that Mukundadas had reached the holy city of Ujjain, Shri Mahaprabhuji lovingly corrected them, saying, "It is not that he went to Ujjain. Ujjain was blessed to receive him."
For pure-hearted devotees like Mukundadas, even the holiest of places feel honored to have them.
