A long time ago in the holy city of Prayag, there lived a kind-hearted lady who was born into a royal Kshatriya family. Even though she grew up with riches, her life changed when she married a simple man from a humble home. She truly loved her husband and chose to live with him instead of staying with her wealthy family. Sadly, her family did not like this and became very angry. In their anger, they did something terrible—they caused harm to her husband and his family.
When the ruler of that area heard about the awful act, he became very upset. As punishment, he had the lady’s family home burned down. Only the Kshatriya lady survived. Now all alone in the world, she lived a very quiet life filled with prayer and deep love for Shri Krishna.
Every day, before the sun came up, she would walk to the Yamunaji river to take a holy bath. After bathing, she would fill a small lota with the river’s sacred water and bring it home. One morning, when she poured the water near her tulsi plant, something amazing happened. Inside the lota, she found a small and beautiful Deity of Shri Krishna!
She was surprised and could not understand how He came into her lota. All day she sat and wondered about this special event. She was so full of thoughts that she forgot to eat anything. That evening, something even more wonderful happened. Shri Krishna spoke to her. He said, “I have come from the river just for you. Tomorrow morning, go see Shri Mahaprabhuji and become his disciple. Worship Me as your own little child.”
The lady's heart was filled with joy and love. She stayed up the whole night sitting beside her tulsi plant, waiting for the sun to rise. The moment the sky started to brighten, she bathed again in the Yamunaji and went straight to meet Shri Mahaprabhuji.
When she reached his home, she gently bowed down and shared everything that had happened. Shri Mahaprabhuji listened with love and said, “Even before doing any special prayers or offerings, Shri Krishna has already come to bless you.” He then gave her diksha, or initiation, and named the Deity Bal Krishna. He told her to treat and serve Shri Krishna like her own little child.
The lady was overjoyed and returned home with a heart full of devotion. From that day on, she cared for her little Bal Krishna with the love of a mother. She worked hard to earn money by spinning cotton and always saved some coins for her beloved Shri Krishna’s offerings.
One day, she collected enough money to buy flour, ghee, and sugar from the market. She made lots of sweet balls with love and placed them in a clay jar. “These will last ten days,” she thought. That afternoon, she made a fresh offering to Shri Krishna, ate her own simple meal, and then sat down to spin more cotton.
Suddenly, she heard a funny sound coming from her temple. It sounded like a cat or mouse had gotten inside. She rushed to check, and what she saw made her eyes open wide with surprise—her little Shri Krishna was sitting happily on His small throne with the whole jar of sweet balls in His tiny hands, munching them joyfully!
She was a little shocked and said, “Oh dear child, I made those sweets to last many days! Why are You eating all of them at once?”
With a sweet smile, Shri Krishna replied, “I do not like old food. I love fresh sweets made with love every single day!”
The lady felt sorry and quickly understood. She lovingly said, “Forgive me, my dear. From now on, I will make fresh offerings for You daily.”
And so, every single day after that, she prepared a new dish just for her beloved Lord, never saving or storing anything. She served Shri Krishna not just with her hands, but with all her heart.
Her simple love, strong faith, and daily service made her life full of joy and blessings.
