Story: The Teachings of Lord Kapila to Devahuti

Long ago, in a peaceful forest ashram by the Sarasvati River, lived a wise mother named Devahuti and her extraordinary son, Lord Kapila. Kapila was not just a wise child—he was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, born to share the secrets of happiness, peace, and spiritual wisdom with the world.

After the departure of her husband, Sage Kardama, Devahuti felt alone and full of questions. Her heart longed for true peace, and she wanted to understand how to be free from sadness and confusion. Trusting her son’s divine wisdom, Devahuti folded her hands and humbly asked, “O Kapila, my dear son, please teach me how to find real happiness and reach the Supreme Lord.”

Lord Kapila smiled gently, and his eyes shone with kindness. He sat with his mother by the riverside, surrounded by green trees, blooming flowers, and chirping birds. With a voice soft and sweet, he began to share his teachings.

1. Who Are We?
Kapila explained, “Mother, we are not this body or mind. We are souls—pure, shining sparks of God. Our true home is with the Supreme Lord, but we have forgotten this and get caught up in the ups and downs of life.”

2. The Reason for Suffering
He continued, “When we think only of the body and chase after temporary pleasures, we feel happy for a moment, but then worries and sadness come back. This is because our soul is longing for the lasting joy that only comes from God.”

3. The Path of Bhakti Yoga
Kapila told his mother about bhakti yoga—the path of loving devotion. He said, “To find real happiness, fill your heart with love for God. Do your daily duties, help others, and remember the Lord in all you do. Worship, chant His holy names, and see every living being as part of God’s family.”

4. Practicing Selflessness
He gently explained, “Be kind, be forgiving, and do not get angry or jealous. Serve others selflessly. Even a little bit of true devotion pleases the Lord very much.”

5. The Power of Satsang and Hearing Stories
Kapila encouraged Devahuti, “Spend time with people who love God. Listen to stories about the Lord, sing bhajans, and share these teachings with others. This will make your heart peaceful and strong.”

6. Freedom from Fear
He reassured her, “Do not fear death or loss. When you love God and remember Him always, you cross over the ocean of sorrow, just as a boat crosses a river. The Lord Himself protects His devotees.”

Devahuti listened with a pure and open heart. As she followed Kapila’s advice, her worries faded away, and she felt calm and joyful inside. She spent her days chanting the Lord’s names, helping those around her, and living with love and devotion.

Lord Kapila’s teachings became famous as the Kapila Gita, and they are still treasured by seekers all over the world.

Moral for Young Vaishnavs:
True happiness comes from loving God, serving others, and always remembering that we are souls—eternal children of the Lord. By following the path of devotion, kindness, and selfless service, we can be peaceful and joyful no matter what happens in life.
