A long time ago, in a quiet village, a boy named Gusaindas was born into a kind Brahmin family. He was very thoughtful and calm, and even as a child, he liked listening to stories about the Lord.
When Gusaindas was just fourteen years old, he heard someone reading from holy books like the Gita and the Bhagavatam. Those words touched his heart deeply. He felt a strong pull to leave everything behind and go on a journey to find the truth. So, he quietly began walking from one holy place to another, visiting many temples and meeting good people who loved Shri Krishna.
For ten long years, he traveled like this, feeling closer and closer to the Lord. Then, when he was twenty-four years old, Gusaindas came to the sacred city of Mathura. There, he saw Shri Mahaprabhuji for the first time.
Gusaindas felt something very special and peaceful in Shri Mahaprabhuji’s presence. He folded his hands and gently asked, “May I become your disciple?”
Shri Mahaprabhuji looked at him with love and asked, “You have been traveling so much for your spiritual search. If I accept you, what will you do after that?”
Gusaindas humbly said, “I will follow your teachings with all my heart.”
Shri Mahaprabhuji smiled and agreed. He gave Gusaindas a special gift—a small sacred form of Shri Krishna, called a svarupa, to worship with love every day. Gusaindas was full of joy. He stayed in Mathura and began to serve Shri Krishna with great devotion, offering food, singing prayers, and caring for the Lord with all his heart.
As time passed, Gusaindas began to feel a deep closeness with Shri Krishna. The Lord became like a friend to him. One day, Shri Krishna quietly told another Brahmin disciple of Shri Mahaprabhuji to visit Gusaindas every day and see the beautiful form of the Lord.
The Brahmin happily did so, and every day he would visit Gusaindas and look lovingly at the Lord. He prayed in his heart that one day, he too might receive a sacred form of Shri Krishna to serve.
One day, Gusaindas gently said to the Brahmin, “If you wish, you may live with me and help serve Shri Krishna.”
But the Brahmin replied, “Thank you, but I hope to serve Shri Krishna on my own one day.”
Gusaindas smiled and didn’t say much more.
Then, something special happened. Shri Krishna quietly let Gusaindas know that it was time for him to leave this world and come to a very holy place in the Himalayas called Badrikashram. So Gusaindas called the Brahmin and said, “My time to leave has come. I want you to have this sacred form of Shri Krishna. He is very pleased with your devotion.”
The Brahmin was surprised and asked, “But what will you do now?”
Gusaindas answered calmly, “I will go to Badrikashram. There, I will leave this body and go to the Lord’s eternal home. But if, by chance, I return, I will quietly stay outside your home and see Shri Krishna once a day. You don’t need to worry. Everything is as it should be.”
With a heart full of peace and love, Gusaindas left for the snowy mountains. A few days later, news came that he had indeed given up his body there, just as he had said. The Brahmin remembered Gusaindas’s words and felt deep respect and love for him.
He thought, “Gusaindasji truly kept his promise. He lived a life full of truth, devotion, and kindness. I will honor him by worshiping Shri Krishna every single day, just as he taught me.”
And that’s what the Brahmin did. For the rest of his life, he lovingly served Shri Krishna and always remembered his dear friend and teacher, Gusaindasji.
This story reminds us that when we live with love, truth, and devotion, the Lord always stays close to us.
