After King Prithu was crowned, the whole kingdom felt a new sense of hope and happiness. The fields started to bloom again, rivers flowed sweetly, and the people began to smile. But there was still a problem—Mother Earth, who had taken the form of a gentle cow, was afraid and was hiding her treasures deep within herself. Food was still scarce, and the people were worried.
King Prithu, always kind and wise, wanted to help everyone. He saw the people’s struggles and knew that, as a true king, it was his duty to make sure no one went hungry and that the earth was protected and respected. Prithu decided to speak directly to Mother Earth to understand her heart.
When Prithu approached, Mother Earth trembled with worry. She tried to run, but Prithu gently called her, saying, “O Mother Earth, please do not be afraid. I do not wish to harm you. I only wish to care for you and all your children. Why are you hiding your gifts from us?”
Hearing Prithu’s gentle and respectful words, Mother Earth stopped and shared her feelings. She said, “O noble king, the people have forgotten their duties to me. They have been wasteful and careless, and so I was afraid and hid my treasures. But now, seeing your loving heart and promise to protect me, I am ready to give my gifts once again.”
Prithu smiled and promised to teach the people to live with respect and care for the earth. He called upon all beings to gather, so Mother Earth could share her blessings with everyone in a special way.
The Milking of the Earth
Mother Earth agreed to give her treasures, but she asked Prithu to arrange for different leaders to take what was needed in the right way. So, she took the gentle form of a cow, and the people of the world, led by Prithu, each came forward with a special “calf” and a “pot” to receive what they needed most.
The wise king himself became the calf, showing respect and love for the earth. Sages, gods, and even mountains, trees, and rivers came, each bringing a different pot. Mother Earth filled each pot with what was needed—grains for food, medicines for health, gems for wealth, and knowledge for wisdom. In this way, the earth’s treasures flowed out, and everyone was blessed.
Because of Prithu’s gentle guidance, the people learned to live in harmony with nature. They did not take more than they needed, and they always remembered to give thanks and perform their duties. The kingdom became prosperous, peaceful, and full of joy.
Prithu’s name became famous across the world as the king who protected and cherished Mother Earth, teaching everyone to care for her with devotion and respect.
Moral for Young Vaishnavs:
When we treat nature and all living beings with respect and gratitude, the world becomes a happier place. A true leader is gentle, wise, and thinks of everyone’s needs. By following Prithu’s example, we can help the earth flourish and live in harmony together.
