84 Vaishnav Story 69 Garu Svami Sanadya

Long ago in the holy city of Mathura, there lived a little boy named Garu. He was only eight years old, but his heart already longed for Shri Krishna. One day, Garu felt a deep calling in his soul. He decided to leave his home and journey to Vrindavan, the sacred land where Shri Krishna played as a child.

In Vrindavan, Garu sat quietly by the banks of the Yamuna River. The gentle water whispered to him as he closed his eyes and thought about Shri Krishna’s love. Day after day, he spent his time remembering the Lord and praying for His mercy.

As time passed, people began to notice this young boy with such a calm and loving spirit. They started coming to him for advice. Garu would smile and softly say, “Always chant the names of the Lord. Never forget Him.” The villagers respected him so much that they started calling him Garu Svamiji.

But one evening, as the sun set and the Yamuna sparkled with golden light, Garu Svamiji felt sadness in his heart. He thought, “I have spent so many years praying, but I have not seen Shri Krishna. Was my life wasted?” His eyes filled with tears, and his heart ached with longing.

That night, Garu Svamiji fell asleep with tears still on his cheeks. In his dream, Shri Krishna appeared, glowing like a thousand suns, yet gentle like the moon. Shri Krishna said, “Garu, tomorrow Shri Mahaprabhuji will come here. Become his disciple, and through him, you will feel My grace.”

The next morning, Shri Mahaprabhuji arrived at the riverbank. He bathed in the Yamuna as Garu Svamiji watched with hope in his eyes. Gathering courage, Garu Svamiji approached Shri Mahaprabhuji and bowed low. “Please make me your disciple,” he said softly.

Shri Mahaprabhuji looked at him with kind eyes and asked, “Why do you wish to follow me? The people already call you Svamiji.”

With folded hands, Garu Svamiji replied, “Because Shri Krishna has asked me to.”

Hearing this, Shri Mahaprabhuji smiled and blessed Garu Svamiji. He also blessed all of Garu Svamiji’s followers who had gathered around.

When Garu Svamiji asked for guidance, Shri Mahaprabhuji taught him the beautiful prayer called Trividha Namavali. Garu Svamiji began reciting it with great love. Slowly, his heart filled with the sweet presence of Shri Krishna.

From that day on, Garu Svamiji spent every moment in loving thoughts of Shri Krishna. He became so deeply absorbed in devotion that words could no longer describe his joy. His soul was full of divine love that could only be felt, not spoken.

And so, Garu Svamiji’s journey of faith showed how a heart full of longing and surrender can find the Lord’s grace.

Poem: The Little Boy by the River

By the river calm and wide,
Sat a boy with love inside.
He left his home, so young, so small,
To hear Shri Krishna’s gentle call.

“Chant His name, never delay,
The Lord will come to you one day.”
And when his tears began to flow,
Shri Krishna’s grace began to glow.

Shri Mahaprabhuji came so near,
With blessings sweet and words so clear.
A prayer was given, love so deep,
Now Garu’s heart was His to keep.

The moral shines, so pure and true,
The Lord gives grace to hearts that woo.
